Copilot VIM just dies with -1 and no logs

On a fresh install of RHEL10 headless server, with node-24 installed and linked to /usr/local/bin/node, running :Copilot setup returns:

Copilot: Process exited with status -1
Copilot: Process exited with status -1
Press ENTER or type command to continue

I have not been able to debug, and numerous Google hits show many others are seeing similar results, but with no resolutions.
