Embedded apps crash and display a white screen on Shopify Mobile App for iOS

Describe the bug

Embedded apps on Shopify Mobile for iOS crash and display a white screen after a few minutes. This happens to all the embedded apps that I've tested including Shopify's own apps. I tried with the Shopify Bundles app and the Shopify Order Printer app on an iPad and iPhone.

To Reproduce

Disable the display Auto-lock on your Apple device to keep your device from falling asleep (Settings > Display & brightness > Auto-lock: Never).

1. Launch the Shopify Bundles app on an iPad or iPhone via Shopify Mobile.
2. Wait a few minutes.
3. See a blank white screen.

Contextual information

This happens only on Shopify Mobile on iOS. This does not happen on a browser or Shopify POS for iOS or on Shopify Mobile/POS for Android.

Hi @pramodparanthaman - I've tried to reproduce this issue with multiple apps on an iphone as well as an ipad running v10.2607.0 and the apps are running without crashing after 10+ minutes. Have you checked this on more than one device?

This problem was first reported to us in December by a merchant using one of our embedded apps on an iPad Mini running on the Shopify Mobile app. A few weeks later, another merchant experienced the same problem on a different embedded app on an iPad Air M1, also using Shopify Mobile. We have recommended they switch to Shopify POS where this does not happen.

We spent several weeks debugging this, trying to identify a problem with our embedded apps, eventually we were able to reproduce the issue on Shopify's own embedded apps. This white screen issue happens on Shopify Bundles and Shopify Order Printer on our test device (iPad 13.1) running Shopify Mobile 10.2607.0 (iOS version 18.3.2).

The white screen appears randomly, sometimes after the device has been idle, sometimes during active use, and other times it doesn’t occur at all.
